NAPLES, Fla. – Sei Young Kim has a hand on the Race to the CME Globe’s $1 million jackpot.
Kim’s 4-under-par 68 Thursday at the CME Group Tour Championship moved her to first in projected CME points in the season-long competition. She started the day fourth but moved ahead of Lydia Ko, Inbee Park and Stacy Lewis, each of whom slipped back one spot.
“I’m very excited,” Kim said. “It’s my dream. It’s come almost true. I try not to think about it on the course. It’s step by step.”
With the South Korean Kim planning to set up a U.S. base in Dallas, she said $1 million would come in handy making the move.
“I’m going to buy a house,” Kim said.
Kim left the course Thursday to get ready for the Rolex Awards Celebration, where she was scheduled to give a speech as recipient of the 2015 Rolex Rookie of the Year Award.
“Very excited and very nervous,” Kim said.
