Symetra Tour players will be competing for a record haul of prize money this year.
The Symetra Tour’s 2015 schedule was released Thursday and will feature 23 events with purses totaling $2.73 million, the most ever on that tour. The LPGA’s developmental tour featured just 15 events two seasons ago.
The new season will open with the Gateway Classic at Longbow Golf Club in Mesa, Ariz., Feb. 20-22, and close with the Symetra Tour Championship in Daytona Beach, Fla., at LPGA International’s Jones Course, Oct. 15-18. The new schedule will feature five 72-hole events, up from two last season. The rest of the tournaments are 54-hole events.
Once again, the top 10 on the Volvik Race for the Card money list at season’s end will earn LPGA membership for 2016.
The Chico’s Patty Berg Memorial in Fort Myers, Fla., will pair together Legends Tour and Symetra Tour players in concurring events April 16-19.
