Friday afternoon, Watson pulled off a backwards, one-handed chip shot at the Champions Tour's Toshiba Classic that rivaled even Dubuisson's efforts from Dove Mountain.
After his approach to the eighth hole at Newport Beach Country Club left Watson next to a large palm tree, the 64-year-old got creative. Turning his back to the hole, Watson chipped using only his right hand and, despite the high degree of difficulty, ended up within a few feet of the hole:
Watson cleaned up the short putt for an all-world par and carded an even-par 71 in the first round, placing him eight shots behind Bernhard Langer after one round.
Is it too much to ask for a Dubuisson-Watson chip off from under a bush at Gleneagles this September?
