Video: Thomas makes 232-yard ace in Rd. 3 of WGC

MEXICO CITY – Justin Thomas was admittedly not playing his best golf when he arrived at the par-3 13th hole on Saturday at the WGC-Mexico Championship.

Three strokes behind leader Dustin Johnson following a birdie at the 12th hole, Thomas took aim with a 6-iron from 239 yards - and he jarred it.

“It was a little bit into the wind so I knew it was just a good, smooth 6 iron. It was really one of the few times today I had a good number,” said Thomas, who closed with a 66 for a one-stroke lead over Johnson. “I kept being in between a lot, so I just tried to put a confident swing on it and I just absolutely flushed it and it was cool to see the gallery go nuts up there.”

Thomas said he’s had “19 or 20” aces in his life, but this was his second on the PGA Tour, his first coming at the 2015 Greenbrier Classic.
