Rory McIlroy's run at the Alfred Dunhill Links title ended Sunday when he tried to putt around the infamous Road Hole bunker at the par-4 17th at St. Andrews. The world No. 1 didn't give it enough pace and watched as his ball was swallowed up by one of the most legendary hazards in the game.
There was one positive after McIlroy's mistake. "I got a good up‑and‑down out of the bunker," he said.
McIlroy finished tied for second, one stroke behind Oliver Wilson.
