Video: Woods rebounds on second nine for 3-over 74

Tiger Woods warned he'd probably be rusty in his first start since having back surgery. He was right.

Woods' rust, plus a tough setup at Congressional, lead to seven total bogeys and a 3-over 74 on Thursday.

But Woods played solid coming home with three birdies and no bogeys over his last six holes, starting with this nice approach shot on the par-4 14th to three feet.

Woods converted that birdie and added two more at Nos. 7 and 8 for a nice finish, considering Woods languised in last place for a good part of his opening round.

Starting the day on the 218-yard, par-3 10th, Woods' tee shot went long into the back bunker, and he was unable to get up-and-down for par.

After a bogey at No. 11, Woods made his first birdie of the day at the par-4 14th.

Woods will need a low round on Friday if he wants to make the weekend at his event. He tees off in the second round with Jason Day and Jordan Spieth at 1:12 p.m.
