Wake Forest adds Palmer patch to basketball uniforms

Even the most casual Arnold Palmer fan (can you be a casual Arnold Palmer fan?) knows that the King went to Wake Forest. After Palmer died on Sept. 25 at age 87, the school honored him with helmet stickers and Palmer's umbrella logo on its football team's uniforms. It also painted the umbrella logo on its athletic fields.

Now the Palmer tribute extends to basketball season, with a circular patch with Palmer's initials on the basketball team's uniforms, according to uni-watch.com.

The school already had named its golf facility and a dorm after Palmer, as well as having a statue of him on campus.

Palmer won the 1949 and 1950 NCAA individual golf championships while at Wake Forest. He left the school in 1950 after his best friend, Bud Worsham, died in an automobile accident.
