Walker jokes: Tiger U.S. team's personal gofer

CHASKA, Minn. – No other player on the planet has been scrutinized more than Tiger Woods. That includes this week at the Ryder Cup, where the 14-time major winner is an assistant captain and hasn’t said a word to the media.

How’s his back? Is he driving his own golf cart? Which pod of Americans is he following around? Check out that chinstrap beard that he’s sporting.

By most accounts, Woods is fitting in nicely with the U.S. team. Phil Mickelson said that the two spoke often over the past couple months, discussing potential pairings and strategies. J.B. Holmes said Wednesday at Hazeltine that Woods has been the ultimate team player.

“It’s great to have him out here,” Holmes said, “with all the experience that he’s had.”

But, Holmes was asked, would anyone dare ask Woods to fetch them a turkey sandwich.

“If that’s what needed to be done at the time, I’m sure he’d make sure it gets done,” Holmes said.

Jimmy Walker had a different, lighter approach, to the same turkey sandwich question.

“I hope guys are asking him to run and go get stuff for them, even if they don’t want it,” Walker quipped.

“I think he’s enjoying it, I really do. He looks like he’s having a great time. I know he’s had a lot of say in what’s going on and a lot of input. I think that’s great that he’s here and he wants to be here.”
