CROMWELL, Conn. – It’s been a rough season for Nick Watney so far.
In 16 PGA Tour starts, he hasn’t finished better than 24th place. And it’s been especially poor lately, with just one made cut in his last five.
Watney claims a few unique circumstances have impaired his performances, but he’s shown signs of reclaiming his form this week, with rounds of 70-65-64 at the Travelers Championship.
“It's been kind of one thing after another,” he explained after a third round that included seven birdies and two bogeys. “And not all bad, but yeah, it's definitely not the year that I was hoping for, but I guess there's still some time.
“I was playing well in Miami and ended up having to pull out [because of a back injury], which is bad, obviously, and then had a baby, which was great. But it's been a bit of an adjustment as far as golf goes.”
