Watson resurfaces, takes in Royals' win in KC

Tom Watson returned to public life Wednesday when he was photographed with actor Paul Rudd, former New York Yankees manager Joe Torre and Kansas City Chiefs punter Dustin Colquitt during Game 2 of the World Series.

While he remained the topic of conversation long after his team lost at Gleneagles, Watson’s only remarks since have come from a prepared statement he released after ESPN.com reported many unflattering details about his failed U.S. Ryder Cup captaincy.

On Wednesday night, Watson, a longtime Royals fan, sported a blue Kansas City jacket and alternate white cap. Perhaps he was the team’s good-luck charm, because the Royals beat the Giants, 7-2, to even the series, prompting a joke that is (almost) too easy: At least one of his teams is faring well.
