Weather still wreaking havoc at Zurich Classic

AVONDALE, La. – Once again, they’re playing catch-up at the Zurich Classic.

Only half of the 156-man field has finished their opening round at TPC Louisiana after play was suspended for nearly five hours Thursday because of inclement weather.

It is the fifth consecutive round that the New Orleans-area event has had a weather delay, dating to last year.

“Obviously this is going to be a bit of a tough week with these double-start rounds,” Jason Day said. “Some guys are going out to play 27 holes tomorrow.”

Play is scheduled to resume at 8 a.m. local time Friday.

Brian Stuard leads at 8-under 64. Among the late starters, defending champion Justin Rose is 1 under through six holes.
