Wie fires flawless 65, two behind Korda in Bahamas

PARADISE ISLAND, Bahamas – Michelle Wie moved into contention at the Pure Silk Bahamas LPGA Classic with an 8-under-par 65 Friday at the Ocean Club Golf Course.

Wie fashioned a bogey-free round in heavy winds and sits tied for third, two shots off the lead.

Wie birdied the first three holes in a hot start fully expecting she was making a run up the leaderboard, but that isn’t what she saw on a board five holes into her round.

“I saw some really low scores,” Wie said. “I was like, `OK, time to giddy up.’”

Wie made eight birdies overall, equaling Paula Creamer’s 65 as the low round of the event. Wie’s ball striking was sharp. She hit 17 greens in regulation and took 28 putts.
