Wie 'really proud' of her second place finish at Kraft

RANCHO MIRAGE, Calif. – Guess who leads the LPGA in scoring now?

Michelle Wie moved up to No. 1 in scoring average at 69.75. She’s also No. 1 in hitting greens in regulation and in rounds under par.

While Wie didn’t win her first major championship Sunday at the Kraft Nabisco, her best finish in a major (2nd) is another sign her game’s headed in the right direction again. Wie opened the year insisting her primary goal was consistency. She believes that will help her win her third LPGA title. She has three top-10 finishes in six starts this year and has climbed from No. 88 in the world rankings leaving Kraft a year ago to No. 24 this week.

“I think it means that I'm close,” Wie said after finishing second to Lexi Thompson at Mission Hills. “I'm really proud of myself, and I'm really excited for the upcoming events. There are four more majors left this year, and I'm just really proud of myself, and I just want to keep improving a little bit every day.”
