Woburn Golf Club was announced Wednesday as the host course for the 2016 Women’s British Open.
Woburn, located about 50 miles outside of London, has hosted the Open on nine occasions on the Duke’s Course, but this will mark the first time that the Marquess Course will be used. The Marquess, which opened in 2000, has hosted two European Tour events, but never a women’s major.
“The Marquess Course is a great test of golf and I know how excited all the members will be to have the championship return,” said Woburn member and 18-year-old star Charley Hull in a release. “I can’t wait for 2016 to come around.”
Turnberry’s Ailsa course will host the 2015 Open.
