Woods not in field for Players Championship

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Tiger Woods will not make his return to the PGA Tour at next week’s Players Championship.

The 5 p.m. (ET) deadline passed without Woods on the field list despite reports that he’d booked accommodations for next week’s event at TPC Sawgrass.

Woods, who hasn’t played since last year’s Wyndham Championship following multiple back procedures, has repeatedly said there is no time line for his return, yet there has been recent speculation that he is close to a return.

Woods missed The Players in 2014 with an injury as well. He has won the Tour’s flagship event twice, most recently in 2013.

The former world No. 1 has also booked accommodations for next month’s Memorial Tournament according to various reports and he registered for the U.S. Open.
