Woods spends Tuesday in Vail watching Vonn race

SAN DIEGO – Tiger Woods will be a late arrival to Torrey Pines.

The former world No. 1 was spotted in Colorado on Tuesday cheering on girlfriend Lindsey Vonn as she raced in the women’s Super-G at the Alpine World Ski Championships.

His experience is already markedly different from three weeks ago, when he surprised Vonn at her race in Italy. Woods on Tuesday was not wearing a skeleton mask, nor was he missing any of his front teeth.

Woods is first off Wednesday (6:40 a.m.) during the Farmers Insurance Open pro-am on Torrey Pines’ North Course, so he will likely fly into the area on Tuesday night. He is scheduled to speak with the media after his round.

Even more focus will be on Woods this week, as he is coming off his worst-ever score as a pro, a second-round 82 at the Phoenix Open that led to his second consecutive last-place finish.

Woods is an eight-time winner at Torrey Pines, site of his last major championship victory, in 2008.
