Day hitting 'limited' balls, plans early Masters arrival

Jason Day, who withdrew from the WGC-Cadillac Championship and didn’t play the Arnold Palmer Invitational because of an ailing left thumb, is back “hitting limited (golf) balls,” his manager with Wasserman Media Group told

Day announced the injury following his victory at the WGC-Accenture Match Play Championship last month but still plans on arriving early at Augusta National to prepare for the year’s first major.

The Australian finished alone in third place last year at the Masters and was a runner-up in 2011, his first start at Augusta National, but was forced to withdraw from the event during the second round in 2012 with an injured left ankle.
