Featured groups: Zurich Classic of New Orleans

RSS

The PGA Tour heads to the Bayou this week for the Zurich Classic of New Orleans. Here are a few groups to watch at TPC Louisiana

7:40 a.m. off 10 tee Thursday (12:40 p.m. Friday): Matt Every, Keegan Bradley, Charles Howell III

Every won five weeks ago at Bay Hill, and he’s coming off a T-12 at Harbour Town, his seventh top 15 in 13 starts this season. Bradley finished second to Every at Arnie’s Place, but he has finished outside the top 40 in his other three most recent starts. Howell has five top 10s this season, but none since Feb. 2.

12:30 p.m. off 1 tee Thursday (7:30 a.m. Friday): Patrick Reed, Billy Horschel, Rickie Fowler

Horschel broke through last year after shooting 20-under 268, but he has failed to live up to expectations this season, recording just one top 10 in 14 starts. Reed has won twice already this season, but he hasn’t finished in the top 50 in his last three starts. Fowler, meanwhile, has finished sixth or better in each of his past two starts, including a T-5 at the Masters. Horschel and Fowler were Walker Cup teammates in 2007.

12:40 p.m. off 1 tee Thursday (7:40 a.m. Friday): Justin Rose, Ernie Els, David Toms

At No. 11, Rose is the highest-ranked player in this week’s field. He finished T-14 at the Masters and has top 15s in each of his last two appearances at TPC Louisiana. Els was a playoff loser here in 2012, but the Big Easy has just one top 10 this season (10 starts). Toms, who played college golf at LSU, is one of the local favorites hoping to thrill the home crowd once more.
