Park 'more comfortable' after year in No. 1 spot

Inbee Park has now reigned atop the Rolex Women’s World Rankings exactly one year.

Park ascended to No. 1 on the Monday of last year’s Lotte Championship in Hawaii. She’s back at Ko Olina Golf Club outside Honolulu looking for her first LPGA title of the 2014 season.

“I've had a lot of wins, and I've experienced a lot of things,” Park said. “A lot of things are going well for me in my career. I feel like I'm probably a lot more mature player than I was last year, and I feel more comfortable out here, and being in the No. 1 spot feels a little more comfortable now.”

Rolex world No. 2 Suzann Pettersen is still out, mending an ailing back. Park leads the world rankings with a 9.97 average ranking. Pettersen is at 8.98 with Stacy Lewis right behind her at No. 3 at 8.77. Even if Pettersen and Lewis were in this week’s field, they couldn’t catch Park.

Park finished tied for 38th in her last start, her defense of her Kraft Nabisco Championship title. In Park’s first four LPGA starts this year, she recorded top-10 finishes. She won the World Ladies Championship in China last month.
