Stock Watch: Wie rising, Reed falling since 'top 5' comment

RSS

Each week on GolfChannel.com, we’ll examine which players’ stocks and trends are rising and falling in the world of golf.

RISING

Michelle Wie (+10%): The former teen phenom is now a well-adjusted young woman who seems poised to finally unlock all of that awesome potential. Her long-awaited third win was an even bigger victory for golf.

Kooch (+8%): His back-nine blunders still give you pause going forward, but that bunker shot on 18 capped an incredible month and kept the smiling assassin off a shrink’s couch.

MAJ (+6%): Jimenez is the 18th player to win in his Champions Tour debut. Bow to the coolest geezer in the game.

Westy (+5%): He snapped a 22-month skid with a blowout victory in Malaysia. At 41 (this week), his best golf isn’t yet behind him … so long as his nerves don’t show their age.

Inbee (+4%): The women’s No. 1 has recorded seven top-10s in her last eight starts. Even Kooch can appreciate that sustained level of excellence.

FALLING

Lexi (-0.005%): Athletic golfer. Non-athletic pitcher.

Luke Donald (-1%): The in-progress swing change will make him a better player – eventually. For now, though, one big flare with the driver Sunday cost him a chance for a slump-busting victory.

Lydia Ko (-2%): Good thing the teen dream moved to Orlando – things are getting ugly back home over her government-funded support.

P-Reed (-5%): Since his infamous “top 5” boast, the 23-year-old has finished outside the top 45 in three events and failed to break 70 in his last nine rounds. Yet another reminder that form is fleeting but quotes live forever.

Pablo Larrazabal (-6%): Dude was stung by 20 hornets, then stripped down and dove into a pond. On the bright side, at least now people have heard of him.
