The 20th-ranked Auburn mens golf team won its second consecutive tournament of the spring after shooting a 284-286-287'857 to claim the Conrad Rehling Alabama Spring Invitational at the par-71, 6,999-yard Capstone Club on Sunday.
Senior Jay Mundy and sophomore Will Claxton finished tied for second after shooting 70-68-74'212 and 72-71-69'212, respectively. Junior Tyler McKeever shot a 72-72-71'215 to finish tied for eighth, junior Lee Williams finished tied for 23rd with a 70-75-77'222 and freshman Stuart Moore shot a 73-77-73'223 to finish tied for 30th.
We played great this weekend, Auburn head coach Mike Griffin said. This is a big win for us. It just gives us more confidence heading into the Schenkel. Our guys stepped up and played hard for three rounds. I am very proud of them.
Alabama finished second with an 865 followed by Southeastern Louisiana (867), Kentucky (870), Illinois (874), Toledo (879), Michigan State (880), Ole Miss (889), UAB (891), Purdue (895), LSU (902), Notre Dame (912) and Mississippi State (920).
