For all that he accomplished over the last 10 years, Tiger Woods wasn't able to pull out a victory for Best Moment of the Decade. Rather, it was his rival, Phil Mickelson, who squeaked out the win.

By just one percentage point, Mickelson's 18-foot putt to win his first major championship at the 2004 Masters bettered Woods' birdie putt to force a playoff at the 2008 U.S. Open.

Like his Masters triumph, this victory was well earned. Five-and-a-half years ago, the left-hander was the clear cut No. 1 player in the world – No. 1 player without a major, that is. It all changed Sunday April 11, 2004.

It wasn't just that Mickelson finally ended an 0-for-46 drought in the majors; it was how that victory finally came about.

Mickelson won a final-round duel with Ernie Els, one which proved to be arguably the most exciting back-nine finish in Masters history [and that's saying something]. Playing in the final group, with Els two twosomes ahead, Mickelson made five birdies over his final nine holes: at Nos. 12, 13, 14, 16 and 18.

His 20-foot birdie at the par-3 16th tied him with Els at 8 under par. With Els preparing for a playoff, Mickelson ended any hope the South African had of claiming his first green jacket by coaxing in an 18-footer on the right side to become just the fourth man in Masters history to win the tournament with a birdie on the final hole.

Mickelson capped his victory with a leap and a kiss for his ball. That birdie, and the overall back-nine battle between Mickelson and Els, was, according to you, the Best Moment of the Decade.
