Big Breaks Henley Misses Cut

Big Break II winner Kip Henley suffered through yet another frustrating day at the FedEx St. Jude Classic in Memphis, Tenn.

Following up a disappointing 9-over 79 in the Thursdays first round, Henley couldnt improve on that number as he finished up Rd. 2 with a 10-over 80 for a two-day total 19-over 159. The cut line fell at 2-over par.

Kip Henley struggled in Friday's second round shooting a 10-over-par 80 to miss the cut.
Henley, who got into the PGA Tour event by local qualifying back in April, managed to hit only five fairways on the day which led to hitting merely six greens in regulation. His 32 putts Friday were five more than he had in Thursdays opening round.

After making par at the 10th, his first hole of the day, Henley made bogey at the 11th and followed up with a double bogey at the 12th. Three straight pars were met with back-to-back bogeys at the 16th and 17th as the 44-year-old Tennessee native made the turn with a 5-ver 40.

Things started to get even worse on the back side as Henley continued to struggle to find fairways.

He made two consecutive bogeys at the 3rd and 4th subsequent to his second double bogey of the day at the 5th hole. A final bogey at the 6th left him at 19 over and well out of reach.

Henley did however stop the bleeding and finished up his round by making pars on his final four closing holes for a back side 40.

For the two days he ranked near the bottom in greens hit in regulation, fairways hit, total putts per greens in regulation, and birdies made.

Henley will undoubtedly have to put this week out of his mind and try to regroup as he heads back to the Nationwide Tour for next weeks Chattanooga Classic near his hometown of Crossville.

Henley, who outlasted nine other competitors in the second installment of The Golf Channels popular reality series, has five more Nationwide Tour exemptions to play in: next weeks Chattanooga Classic (Chattanooga, Tenn.), the LaSalle Bank Open (Chicago, Ill.), the Knoxville Open (Knoxville, Tenn.), the Lake Erie Charity Classic (Erie, Pa.) and the National Mining Association Pete Dye Classic (Bridgeport, W. Va.).
