DANIEL ISLAND, S.C. – Sweden’s Daniel Chopra shot a tournament-record 10-under-par 62 – one-putting 16 times – Friday to take a share of the 36-hole lead at the Nationwide Tour Championship at Daniel Island.
The Tour finale features the top 60 money winners battling for 25 spots on the PGA Tour next year.
It was a career-best round for Chopra, 37, who birdied his first six holes.
On the front nine he made seven birdies, shot 29 and needed only 10 putts. His only two-putt came from 25 feet on the par-5 sixth hole for birdie.
He started the back nine with five pars before birdieing three of his final four holes.
Kokrak, who shot a second straight 67, is No. 4 on the money list and assured of a PGA Tour spot in 2012. He is looking for his third victory this season and the perks that go to the leading money winner – a full exemption on the PGA Tour and an exemption into The Players Championship.
