Compton falls well behind at first stage of Q-School


PGA Tour (75x100)KEY BISCAYNE, Fla. ' Erik Compton, who is being allowed the use of a cart due to his medical condition, posted a 5-over 77 on Thursday of first-stage PGA Tour Q-School.
He is tied for 56th after 54-holes of the 72-hole qualifier.
The top-23 and ties will advance out of the Key Biscayne, Fla., qualifying site.
Compton, who received his second heart transplant just five months ago, applied for and was granted the use of a cart from the PGA Tour during Q-School.
The Miami native was diagnosed at age 9 with cardiomyopathy, a condition that threatens the body's ability to pump blood to the heart.
