PETER KESSLER

EVERY WEEK ON GOLF TALK LIVE YOU HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO ASK A QUESTION OF OUR GUEST AND THE QUESTION FOR PAYNE STEWART TONIGHT IS. PAYNE, GOOD SHOWING AT THE GVO. LOOKING FORWARD TO WATCHING YOU AGAIN NEXT YEAR. WHAT ARE YOUR FEELINGS ON THE TOUR PLAYERS ASSOCIATION? FROM MIKE WAGNER IN VICTORIA.

PAYNE STEWART

WELL MIKE, THANK YOU I PLAYED GOOD FOR 63 HOLES UP THERE IN VANCOUVER, I KEEP GETTING BETTER EVERY YEAR IN VANCOUVER I'M 6TH THEN 2ND SO NEXT YEAR BOY I'M ALIVE. BUT ANY WAY, THE PLAYERS ASSOCIATION I THINK IS, IS THERE'S A BUNCH OF PLAYERS ON TOUR THAT ARE INTERESTED IN THE INNER WORKS AT THE PGA TOUR OFFICE WHICH THOSE GUYS SUPPOSEDLY WORK FOR US

ALL RIGHT, THE COMMISSIONER WORKS FOR US, ALL THE PEOPLE AT THE OFFICE UP THERE WORK FOR US AND SOMETIMES WE DON'T FEEL THAT WERE GETTING THE PROPER RESPONSES THE OUR QUESTIONS. OR QUICK ENOUGH RESPONSES TO OUR

QUESTIONS. ONE OF THEIR PAT LINES IS WE'LL LOOK INTO IT AND WE'LL GET BACK TO YA. YOU KNOW IT'S, IT'S LAWYER TALK AND YOU KNOW SO WE WERE INTERESTED IN FINDING OUT SOME OF THE CERTAIN THINGS, I MEAN, THERE'S LIKE SUPPOSEDLY 300 MILLION DOLLARS IN THE

GENERAL FUND. YOU KNOW WHAT'S THE GENERAL FUND, EVERYTHING WE HEAR ABOUT IS WELL THAT GOES IN THE GENERAL FUND, WELL WHAT'S THE GENERAL FUND FOR. YOU KNOW WHAT

DOES IT DO, WE WANT TO KNOW ABOUT THESE THINGS AND BEING THAT WE HAVE A POLICY BOARD AND INDEPENDENT DIRECTORS, THEY PASS EVERYTHING THAT GOES ON. WELL I I'M IN AGREENCE WITH A LOT OF OTHER PLAYERS IS, LET ALL THE PLAYERS VOTE ON IT, LET US, LET THE

PLAYERS PASS POLICY FOR WHAT WE DO OUT THERE FOR A LIVING, YOU KNOW. YES WE VOTE FOR THE INDEPENDENT PLAYERS, I MEAN THE INDEPENDENT BOARD MEMBERS ARE ELECTED ALONG WITH THE PLAYER DIRECTORS BUT, YOU KNOW WE GET A MEETING SAY AT TPC, IT'S THE ANNUAL MEETING AND WE GOT ALL THE

PLAYERS THERE LETS PASS SOME POLICY RIGHT HERE BOYS, LETS BRING IT UP AND

VOTE ON IT. YOU GOT EVERYBODY HERE LETS PASS POLICY RIGHT NOW, LETS SEE HOW THAT WORKS.

PETER KESSLER

THAT'S THE WAY THEY DO IT ON THE LPGA TOUR.

PAYNE STEWART

WELL

PETER KESSLER

MAJORITY VOTE BY THE PLAYERS, CHANGES POLICY.
PAYNE STEWART

ISN'T THAT HOW IT WORKS IN THE UNITED STATES, MAJORITY RULES.

PETER KESSLER

MOST COMPANIES WHEN WE VOTE FOR PEOPLE, YES.

PAYNE STEWART

THERE YOU GO.

PETER KESSLER

THERE YOU GO, LETS SEE WHAT TODD IN TEXAS WANTS TO ASK YOU, HELLO TODD.

CALLER- TODD IN TEXAS

HEY PAYNE

PAYNE STEWART

HEY TODDY HOW ARE YOU BUDDY

CALLER- TODD IN TEXAS

GOOD HOW'S IT GOING?

PAYNE STEWART

GOOD THANK YOU

CALLER- TODD IN TEXAS

WANTED TO KNOW A FEW OUTLOOKS FOR NEXT YEAR. WHAT TOURNAMENTS YOUR GOING TO PLAYING, WHAT YOUR SCHEDULE

LOOKS LIKE AND HAVE YOU GOT ANY EQUIPMENT CHANGES COMING UP.

PETER KESSLER

WAIT FIRST TELL US WHO TODDY IS

PAYNE STEWART

WELL TODD'S A COLLEGE BUDDY OF MINE THAT I GREW UP WITH, ACTUALLY HE'S FROM JEFFERSON CITY MISSOURI AND WE MET ON A PLANE GOING TO THE US JUNIOR AMATEUR BACK IN 1974 OR 5 SO WE'VE KNOWN EACH OTHER FOR A LONG TIME.

AND HIS, WE'VE GOT CHILDREN THE SAME AGE. BUT ANYWAY UM, NEXT YEAR THE SAME AMOUNT OF TOURNAMENTS TODD

PROBABLY, I REDUCED MY SCHEDULE THIS YEAR AND I FOUND THAT I ACTUALLY PLAYED BETTER I'VE BEEN MORE PRODUCTIVE OUT ON TOUR AND RIGHT NOW I'M IN THE LAST YEAR OF MY TOP FLITE CONTRACT WERE TALKING TO THEM ALONG WITH OTHER MANUFACTURE'S

AND A WE'LL JUST SEE, SEE WHAT COMES ABOUT.

CALLER- TODD IN TEXAS

ALSO I WANT TO TELL YOU. I THINK YOU HIT THAT PUTT AT OLYMPIC A LITTLE TOO HARD.

PAYNE STEWART

WELL THANKS A LOT

PETER KESSLER

YOUR A GOOD FRIEND, YOUR OFF THE LIST.
HE'S NOT COMING TO YOUR HOUSE AND HE'S NOT COMING BACK TO GOLF TALK LIVE. LETS SEE WHAT MAX IN FLORIDA WANTS TO ASK YOU, HELLO MAX.

CALLER- MAX IN FLORIDA

HELLO PETER, PAYNE GREAT TO BE TALKING TO YA.

PAYNE STEWART

THANK YOU MAX

CALLER- MAX IN FLORIDA

I GOT A QUESTION ABOUT YOU KNOW YOUR SWING SEEMS SO FLUID, SO TENSION FREE, YOU KNOW SO EFFORTLESS. NOW YOU KNOW WHEN YOU GET OUT THERE IN THESE TOURNAMENTS A, IT'S ALMOST LIKE YOUR PLAYING ON A SATURDAY

AFTERNOON WITH YOUR REGULAR FOURSOME. WHAT ARE YOUR SWING THOUGHTS OUT THERE, WHAT DO YOU SAY THAT YOUR ABLE TO DO THIS.

PAYNE STEWART

WELL MAX THE ONE THING THAT WHEN I'M SWINGING WELL AT IT THAT I TRY TO CONCENTRATE IS ALL I THINK ABOUT IS THE RHYTHM OF MY SWING AND I DON'T THINK ABOUT MY BACK SWING, I DON'T THINK ABOUT THE TEMPO AND THE RHYTHM OF MY SWING AND I'VE BEEN

DOING IT FOR SO LONG, THAT WHEN I'M SWINGING GOOD RHYTHM IT JUST COMES VERY NATURALLY TO ME, I HAVEN'T HAD TO WORK VERY HARD ON RHYTHM AND WHEN I AM OFF THAT'S THE SOLE THING THAT I GO TO THE PRACTICE TEE AND TRY TO WORK ON.

PETER KESSLER

SO IT'S ALMOST NEVER MECHANICS IF THERE'S A PROBLEM.

PAYNE STEWART

WELL YOU KNOW, THERE'S SOMETIMES THERE'S MECHANICS THAT THE CLUB MIGHT BE COMING A LITTLE BIT OVER THE TOP OR WHATEVER AND I'VE GOT A COUPLE OF DRILLS FOR THAT, THAT I DO

BUT IT'S GENERALLY RHYTHM YOU KNOW IF MY RHYTHM IS GOOD AND SMOOTH AND A COUPLE OF DRILLS THAT I DO ARE LIKE. NORMALLY HIT A 7 IRON SAY 160 YARDS, I'LL GO OUT TAKE A FULL SWING WITH A 7 IRON AND TRY TO HIT IT 130 YARDS. SEE IF

I CAN CONTROL THE BALL. CONTROL A DRAW OR A FADE WITH IT BY TAKING A FULL SWING AND ONLY HITTING IT HALF THE DISTANCE OR _ OF THE DISTANCE AND IF I CAN GET TO THAT FEEL THAN THE RHYTHM RIGHT, THEN WERE SET.

PETER KESSLER

SAM SNEAD SAID, THAT IF HE COULD HIT EVERY ONE OF HIS CLUBS A 100 YARDS WITH A FULL SWING, THAT'S WHEN HE KNEW HIS RHYTHM WAS GOOD, INCLUDING THE DRIVER.

PAYNE STEWART

THAT'S, THAT'S THE SAME WORK I WORK ON. IT'S FUNNY THAT GUYS WILL WATCH ME HIT THESE DRIVERS IN THE PRACTICE ROUNDS OR PRACTICE TEE WARMING UP. AND I'M ONLY HITTING THEM 100 YARDS, 150 YARDS AND THERE KIND OF GOING WOO, WOO, YOU KNOW THERE'S, WHAT IS WRONG WITH HIM YOU KNOW IT'S JUST, IT'S A DRILL, IT'S JUST A RHYTHM DRILL

TO GET A LITTLE TENSION OUT EARLY, AND JUST GET SOME RHYTHM BUILT INTO THE DAY.

PETER KESSLER
AS WE GO TO BREAK LETS SEE SOME OF THE RESULTS THAT, THAT RHYTHM HAS YIELDED OVER THE YEARS AS WE TAKE A LOOK AT SOME OF THE ACCOMPLISHMENTS.
