This year will be the tournaments second year on the Nationwide schedule, and will once again be held just outside the city of Cleveland, OH, at the StoneWater Golf Club. The course at StoneWater, which was designed by Dr. Michael Hurdzan and Dana Fry, is a par-71 measuring 7,045 yards.
Last year, Andrew Johnson was the tournaments inaugural champion. Johnson, with the help of on his final three rounds in the sixties, including a course record 62 on Saturday, finished the tournament three strokes ahead of runner-up Keoke Cotner, with a score of 14-under-par, 270.
Last week, Jason Enloe won the National Mining Association Pete Dye Classic in a playoff over Boo Weekly. Enloe, who is now ranked 27th on the money list, will be in attendance this week as he will try and go for two in a row, and continue his rise into the top 20 on this years money list.
The tournament offers a $500,000 purse in which $90,000 will be given to the winner. Of those vying for the championship will be last years winner Andrew Johnson, and nine of the top ten money winners of the 2006 season. In addition two players, Johnson Wagner and Tripp Isenhour, hope to make the Legend Financial Group Classic their third win of the year, and receive their Battlefield Promotion to the PGA TOUR.
