It was a close vote, but there is a new No. 1. The British Open champion gets a chance to back up his surprise major triumph at Whistling Straits ... and solidify his spot atop these rankings.
Lee Westwood

Lee Westwood
Westwood dropped a spot, primarily because he was forced to withdraw from the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational and the PGA Championship due to a calf injury. It's a shame we won't be able to see what he might have done at Whistling Straits.
Graeme McDowell

Roller-coaster week at Firestone for G-Mac (66-73-68-72), but with one major already on the mantel this year he must be considered among the favorites this week.
Jeff Overton

Let the debate begin:  Can a player be considered among the best without a victory? Overton, along with Matt Kuchar, is making a good argument with six top-6 finishes in his last 11 starts.
Justin Rose

Justin Rose
Rose remains in the fifth spot, but he might be losing ground in European Ryder Cup captain Colin Montgomerie's eyes. He needs a big week at the PGA.
Hunter Mahan

Second win of 2010 was impressive, but his 18th Tour round of 64 or better on Sunday at Bridgestone was the stuff of locker room legend. He may not be the most consistent, but he could be the most explosive player on Tour.
Rory McIlroy

Rory McIlroy
Sneaky good PGA Championship pick following a quietly solid week at Firestone. Northern Irishman was one of two players (with Bo Van Pelt) to post all four rounds in the 60s (68-69-69-69) in Ohio.
Luke Donald

Poor weekend at Firestone (73-71) cost him a shot at the title and a few spots in the Power Rankings.
Bo Van Pelt

A Power Rankings staple earlier in the year, BVP climbed back into the fold with his Sunday run at Firestone and tie for third.
Steve Stricker

Veteran starting to find putting touch again and the tie for ninth at Firestone is a good boost for the Wisconsin native going into a home-state major.
