First-year Lady Racer womens golfer Lee-Anne Pace continued her amazing spring by winning her third individual title and leading Murray State to a team championship at the Saluki Invitational Monday in Carbondale, Ill.
MSU, which has won two of the first four tournaments this spring, shot a 36-hole score of 315-326 - 641 to turn back Arkansas State (650) and host Southern Illinois (653) in the 14-team event. MSU, which has finished second in the other two events this spring, led Arkansas State by eight strokes after Sundays first round.
Pace, a sophomore from Cape Town, South Africa, won her third individual title in four career starts by shooting 77-73 - 150. Her second-round 1-over par 73 was the best round of the tournament.
Following Pace for MSU was fellow South African Santie Koch. The sophomore shot 79-83 - 162 to finish tied for 8th in the 90-golfer field. Stephanie Baskey, a senior from Mt. Sterling, Ky., shot 77-87 - 164 to finish tied for 11th.
Finishing tied for 15th, senior Kelly Wren of South Fulton, Tenn., shot 82-84 - 166 and teammate Nikki Orazine, a junior from Paducah, Ky., shot 82-86 - 168 to finish tied for 26th.
