Nikes First Irons Auctioned for $7000

John Young now has something for his collectibles case, but The First Tee Foundation emerged as the real winner of the recent online auction for the first-ever production set of Nike Forged Irons.
The Golf Channel, Nike Golf and eBay partnered for the Jan. 18-28 auction, which featured a variety of Nike golf equipment not yet available to the general public. Proceeds from the auction, which totaled $8,857.95, will be presented to The First Tee Foundation, a World Golf Foundation initiative dedicated to providing affordable golf access for everyone.
Young, a retiree from Sunset Beach, N.C., will receive delivery of the irons (3-PW) before the clubs are made available for purchase by the general public next month. His winning bid of $7,000 garnered him the much-anticipated line of forged irons, which were unveiled last week at the PGA Merchandise Show in Orlando, Fla.
Id like to say that I cant wait to get them on the practice range, said Young. But, in fact, I plan to save them ' very securely ' and display them.
