SHREVEPORT,La. -- Emily Albrektson shot a tournament-best 75 to win the individual title at the Centenary Ladies Invitational, and she led Oklahoma City University to an eight-shot victory in the team competition with a two-round total of 660.
Albrektson's 75 tied the tournament record for lowest round, set last year by Brooke Fincher of Oral Roberts. Her two-round total of 151 broke the old tournament record, set by three players over the last two years, by six strokes.
In the team competition, the Stars won by eight strokes over the Sam Houston State Bearcats, with whom they were tied after the first round. Along with Albrektson's score, Katy Treadwell shot 80 and Laura Benedix shot 81 to lead Oklahoma City to the team title. Oklahoma City's second-round score of 322 tied the tournament record for lowest team score in a round, set in 2001 by Lamar University.
Emily Ogilvy kept the Bearcats in the competition with a 79, good enough for a two-round total of 159 and second place in the individual standings. Raman Saran recovered from an opening-round 84 to shoot 78 and finish fourth overall.
Nicholls State came in third place with a tournament score of 699. Shawna Fraser, two strokes behind Albrektson after the first round, shot an 83 and ended the tournament in third place with a 161. Samantha Kirk put two 83s together to finish in sixth place in the individual competition.
The Ladies of Centenary finished in fourth place with a score of 744. Emily Bankston, a senior from Nacogdoches, Tex., finished in a tie for ninth place with a score of 174.
