Oklahoma State Golf Claims Team Title At The Maxwell

ARDMORE, Okla. - Oklahoma States mens golf team posted its fourth victory of the season on Sunday morning, pulling away from the field and defending its title at The Maxwell with a 19-shot victory at Dornick Hills Country Club.
 
The Cowboys, who entered the day with a 13-shot lead, fired a two-under team score of 278 during their final round to finish with an 829, 11-under, total, while junior Hunter Mahan captured medalist honors for the second consecutive tournament and the third time overall this season.
 
The McKinney, Texas native followed up yesterdays rounds of 67 and 68 with a final-round 69 to finish one shot clear of Tulsas David Inglis with a 205, six-under total.
 
Sophomore Alex Norn posted back-to-back sub-70 rounds for the first time in his career closing out the tournament with consecutive 68s after opening with a 74 to tie for sixth place at even par and earn his second top 10 of the season. Junior Pr Nilsson also broke 70 during his final two rounds with a 69 on Sunday to go with rounds of 75 and 67 to come in one shot off Norns pace at 211, one-over, and tied for the 10th position.
 
Sophomore Dayton Rose, who competed as an individual, notched his best career finish, tying for 16th place with a 214 total, after shooting an even-par 70, while true freshman Chris Clarke and redshirt freshman Zack Robinson were among six players tied for 21st at 215 after carding rounds of 72 and 77, respectively.
 
Senior J.C. DeLeon posted a 54-hole total of 224 to finish tied for 54th, while redshirt freshman Stewart Dodson carded his second consecutive 79 to tie for 84th place at 238. Both players competed as individuals aon the par-70, 6,442-yard layout.
 
OSU will return to action on May 15 when it travels to Manhattan, Kan., to compete in the NCAA Central Regional at Colbert Hills Golf Club.
