2011 Power Rankings: Week 5

RANKNAMECOMMENTS
Phil Mickelson1Phil Mickelson

Coming off a runner-up showing at Torrey Pines, the two-time Waste Management champion has to be considered the favorite in Phoenix.

Hunter Mahan
2
 Hunter Mahan

Mahan won this tournament a year ago and was in the mix last week. He shot 65-65 over the weekend to capture this title in 2010.

Jhonattan Vegas
3
Jhonattan Vegas
The Tour rookie is on fire. He won the Bob Hope and was only one back entering the 72nd hole at the Farmers Insurance Open. He's the early FedEx Cup leader.
Rickie Fowler
4
 Rickie Fowler
Fowler had a chance to earn his maiden Tour title at TPC Scottsdale last year, but played cautiously on the final par 5 and lost by a stroke.
Dustin Johnson
5
 Dustin Johnson
Johnson missed the cut in his lone TPC Scottsdale appearance (2009), but he has two top-10s in two starts this year, including a T-3 last week.
Bubba Watson
6
 Bubba Watson
It's never easy winning in back-to-back weeks on the PGA Tour, but Vegas nearly accomplished the feat at Torrey Pines and the Phoenix crowd should inspire Watson.
Anthony Kim
7
 Anthony Kim
Kim's another player who doesn't have a lengthy or impressive track record in this event. Still, his game has improved remarkably since the end of 2010.
J.B. Holmes
8
 J.B. Holmes
Holmes has two career PGA Tour wins. Both have come at this event. Enough said.
Bill Haas
9
 Bill Haas
Haas has three missed cuts and one top-10 finish in four starts at TPC Scottsdale. But he's hot, having been in contention each of the last two weeks.
Nick Watney
10
 Nick Watney
Watney rides a final-round 63 on the South Course into Phoenix.  He's a streaky player who could stay hot this week.
