2011 Power Rankings: Week 18

RANKNAMECOMMENTS
Rory McIlroy1Rory McIlroy

The defending champion nearly won the week following his Masters collapse. After a couple of weeks off, he should be physically rested and Quail Hollow should provide some mental relief.

Phil Mickelson
2
Phil Mickelson

Mickelson has a great track record at this event, with four top-5 finishes in this event. This is his first start since a disappointing Masters.

Bubba Watson
3
Bubba Watson
Watson won last week for his second Tour title of the season. He may be the current leader for Player of the Year. A win this week and he might be considered the best American-born player, as well.
Nick Watney
4
Nick Watney
Watney got off to a hot start, culminating in a win at Doral. He has since cooled, finishing out of the top 10 in his last three events. He's made the cut in each of his six starts at the Wells Fargo.
Webb Simpson
5
 Webb Simpson
Simpson has missed the cut in his two previous starts at Quail Hollow, but he's fresh off a runner-up showing in New Orleans. He's third on Tour in scoring average and second in All Around.
Tommy Gainey
6
Tommy Gainey
Gainey is playing as well as anyone at the moment, with back-to-back third-place finishes. The South Carolina native should feel comfortable one state north.
Martin Kaymer
7
Martin Kaymer
Kaymer tied for ninth in Malaysia, the week after missing the cut at the Masters and losing his No. 1 world ranking. He has a lot to prove on American soil this week.
Jim Furyk
8
 Jim Furyk

Furyk contended at the Heritage before a poor final round ended his hopes for a title defense. He won this event in 2006 and has three other top-10 finishes here.

Hunter Mahan
9
 Hunter Mahan
Since the beginning of the year, Mahan has alternated poor result with top 10. He missed the cut in his last start at Augusta, so it's time for another solid start.
Rickie Fowler
10
Rickie Fowler
McIlroy broke through with an impressive victory last year at Quail Hollow. Perhaps its Fowler's turn in 2011. He tied for sixth in '10.
