SPRINGFIELD, N.J. ' The PGA Championship is the final event for players to earn points for the U.S. and International Presidents Cup teams. The top 10 players from each points list will earn an automatic invitation to the event, which will be contested Sept. 22-25 at Robert Trent Jones Golf Club in Lake Manassas, Va.

U.S. captain Jack Nicklaus and International captain Gary Player will each announce their two captains selection Monday. While the International standings are based on world rankings, the U.S. team is determined by official earnings. The top eight players on the current U.S. standings are assured a place on the team, leaving Baltusrol Golf Club a battle site for the final two automatic spots.

With points (earnings) doubled at a major championship, 16 players who started the week outside of the top 10 mathematically could have qualified for one of those remaining spots.
