FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. -- The St. Bonaventure golf team posted a 4-over par 288 in today's final round of the Ft. Lauderdale Collegiate Spring Classic.
The Bonnies entered today's play one shot behind St. John's after posting a four-man score of 310 at the par 71 Grande Oaks. St. John's, who is ranked in the top 10 in the district, finished in second place with a two-round score of 309-306/615.
'I am very pleased with our performances today and this entire week,' said St. Bonaventure head coach Steve Campbell. 'It is a great way to begin the season.'
Individually, junior George Thomas led the Bonnies with a two round total 74-71/145. Thomas' even-par 71 in today's final round helped him to a second place overall finish.
Sophomore Jay Lindell posted a score of 77-74/151 and junior Jeff Tracy finished with a two-round total 77-79/156.
Sophomore Vince Puglia (Niagara Falls, N.Y./Niagara-Wheatfield) and freshman Josh Anderson posted a combined total of one-over par (143) in today's final round firing 71 and 72, respectively. Puglia posted a score of 88-71/159 and Anderson posted a two-round total of 82-72/154.
The Bonnies return to action Sunday and Monday, March 30-31, at the George Washington Spring Invitational.
