'We wanted to take this opportunity to thank everyone for their wonderful emails and kind thoughts,' said Woods. 'Elin and I know we are blessed by the birth of Charlie, but we are also fortunate to have the support of so many friends. We offer you our heartfelt thanks.'
'It's been six days since Charlie was born, and everything is great (except for a little thing called sleep).'
In addition to stating the family was doing well, he also reiterated that he and his wife Elin would introduce their son when the time was right.
Woods did not indicate his plans to return to action on the PGA Tour. Meanwhile the 5 p.m. ET deadline to commit to the Northern Trust Open passed without his entry. While he was initially expected to return before the Masters, he could possibly return as early as the WGC-Accenture Match Play Championship on Feb. 25. The deadline for eligible players to enter that tournament is Feb. 20.
