RANCHO SANTA FE, Calif. - The University of Utah men's golf team won its second tournament of the year on Tuesday as they shot a team score of 909 (311-313-285), to win the USD Invitational. Utah beat out Portland by six strokes to claim the victory. Casey Fowles was the top Ute shooting a three-round score of 226 (77-77-72) and finishing in third individually.
Steve Newren finished in fifth with a 227 (83-72-72), while Luke Swilor added a 232 (83-81-68) placing him in 13th. Garrett Clegg shot a 235 (79-83-73) finishing 21st and Carl Jensen scored a 237 (72-90-75) coming in 34th.
This marks the second time this season that Utah has won a tournament, the first coming at the Countrywide Intercollegiate in October.
