16 Year-Old Earns Spot in Honda Classic

16 year-old amateur Ty Tryon shot a 2-under-par 70 on Monday to qualify for a spot in the 2001 Honda Classic in Coral Springs, Fl.
His score held up under windy conditions bettering all but one player in a field of 200. He received one of three qualifier spots.
Tryon, who is ranked 5th in the country among junior players by Golfweek magazine, plays for Lake Highland in Orlando, Fl. He equaled the feat accomplished by teammate Christo Greyling who qualified for a PGA Tour event at last year's Buick Challenge.
