2009 Ryder Cup Venue Decision Delayed

RSS

The drama surrounding the choice of a venue for the 2009 Ryder Cup will be extended until September the Ryder Cup Board announced Tuesday. An announcement will be made prior to this year's Ryder Cup deciding both the host country and venue.

The host site for the 2009 Ryder Cup Matches will be chosen from bids entered by sites in Scotland, England and Wales. The Ryder Cup Board cited its need for more time to evaluate the choices.

``The Ryder Cup Board wishes further time to consider the bids in more detail,' said Sandy Jones, chief executive of the PGA of America. 'The Board believes it is in the best interests of all the candidates to discuss and refine the details of all the bids.'

The sites competing for the coveted event are Slaley Hall in England, Celtic Manor Resort in Wales, and five sites in Scotland: Loch Lomond, Gleneagles, Turnberry, Carnoustie and St. Andrews.
