Arizona Leads After One

The University of Arizona was the only team to finish the first round under par in the NCAA Mens Division I Championship in Durham, N.C.

The Wildcats, 8th in the Golfweek/Sagarin College Ranking, combined to fire an 8-under-par 280 at The Duke Golf Club. They lead second-ranked Georgia Tech by nine shots. The Yellow Jackets carded a 1-over-par 289.
 
Top-ranked Georgia could only muster a disappointing 8-over-par 296. The Bulldogs are trying to complete the NCAA sweep. The Lady Dogs won the Women's National Championship last week.
 
Georgia Techs Kris Mikkelsen and Arizonas Chris Nallen each posted 6-under-par 66 to share the lead in the individual race. Nallens teammate, Ricky Barnes, is just two back after a 4-under-par 68.
 
Yellow Jacket Bryce Molder, who is the nations No. 1 ranked player, is seven shots off the pace after a 1-over-par 73.
