Arizona Wins Edean Ihlanfeldt Invitational

College CentralSEATTLE, Wash. - The Arizona women's golf team came from behind Wednesday to win the Edean Ihlanfeldt Invitational in Seattle, Wash.
The Wildcats trailed second-round leader California by one stroke going into the third round. Arizona carded a 304 (+16) on Wednesday to place first. The team shot 32-over-par 896 for the tournament. California (899) and UCLA (899) finished tied at second, three strokes behind the tournament champion Wildcats. Southern California (914) occupied third place. Oregon held fifth place with a 60-over-par 924.
Individually Arizona sophomore Erica Blasberg tied for first, after shooting a 219 (+3). This is the second consecutive first place finish for the native of Corona, Calif. On Sept. 26-28 Blasberg won the Mason Rudolph Invitational.
Sophomore Whitney Welch tied for seventh after shooting 7-over-par 223. Junior Mar Garcia tied for ninth at 8-over-par 224. Sophomore Lani Elston finished tied at 28th after shooting 16-over-par 232. Sophomore Cassandra Kirkland tied for 34th after shooting 18-over-par 234.
The Wildcats will tee off next in the Pepsi-Stanford Invitational in Palo Alto, Calif. on Oct. 17-19. The tournament is being contested at Stanford Golf Course, a par 72, 6,154-yard layout.
