Barton Creek To Host 03 Senior Womens Am

Barton Creek Resort in Austin, Texas, has been selected as the site of the 2003 USGA Senior Womens Amateur Championship, the United States Golf Association has announced. The dates of next year's championship are Sept. 6-11.
Designed by Tom Fazio, the Foothills course was opened in 1986. Featuring cliff-lined fairways, along with natural caves and waterfalls, it is one of four courses in the resort complex. The resort was the host of the Liberty Mutual Legends of Golf event on the Senior PGA Tour from 1989-93 and hosted the 2002 Betsy Rawls Intercollegiate and Trans-Miss National Amateur.
With the USGA Senior Womens Amateur, the USGA will be making its first visit to Barton Creek. The state of Texas has hosted 20 previous USGA championships, including two Senior Womens Amateurs at Ridglea Country Club in Fort Worth in 1969 and at TPC at The Woodlands in 1989.
Prior to 2003, the Senior Womens Amateur will be held at Mid Pines Inn & Golf Club in Southern Pines, N.C., from Oct. 5-10, 2002.
