Bell Named First Lady of Golf


The PGA of America has named Judy Bell as 2001 PGA First Lady of Golf.
At 64 years of age, Bell has competed in 38 USGA championships during her career, and served as the USGA's President during the years of 1996-'97. She has served as captain of the Curtis Cup team in '86 and '88, and in '87 was the first woman ever to be selected on the USGA executive committee.
Most recently, Bell has been acting as the consulting director of the USGA.
The PGA of America will formally award the honor to Bell on May 23.
