Bjorn to Play in Singapore

SINGAPORE - Thomas Bjorn will play in the Caltex Masters Presented by Carlsberg, Singapore 2003, later this month.
Bjorn, 12th on the European Tour rankings last season when he won the BMW International Open, joins Ernie Els in the Caltex event. Els won the Mercedes Championships in Hawaii on Sunday with a winning score of 31 under par, which is a record on the US PGA Tour.
Bjorn will be starting his season at the Caltex Masters, which will be staged at Laguna National Golf and Country Club Jan. 23-26, and is jointly sanctioned by the European Tour and the Asian PGA Tour.
The tall Dane has won seven events on the European Tour and last season had four top-10 finishes to go with his victory in the BMW International Open.
Bjorn joins a stellar field of European and Asian players headlined by world No. 3 Els, the reigning British Open champion. His winning score in Hawaii beat the previous US PGA Tour record by two strokes.
