British Masters To Get Big Face Lift


European TourThe British Masters, first played in 1946, will be given a complete overhaul as a deal has been reached between The European Tour and International Sports Management.
ISM, part of the growing Sports Resource Group, will take over in promoting the British Masters for the next three years.
Along with an large increase of prize money and new venue, officials will try to make the tournament a must for the top players on the European Tour.
We are both proud and excited to be part of the British Masters and we will do everything we can to ensure it is one of the tournaments all the Tours top players want to take part in, said ISM chief Andrew Chubby Chandler.
This move highlights ISMs commitment not only to The European Tour, but also to the game in general, added Chandler.
The event will be played at The Marriott Forest of Arden, Warwickshire, England, on June 5-8, 2003, with a new prize fund of $2,365,243 and a first-place prize of $394,119.
European Ryder Cup star Darren Clarke, welcomed the switch to one of his favourite courses.
Its good to see the British Masters elevated in such a way, said Clarke. Im already looking forward to taking part particularly since I always seem to play well at the Marriott Forest of Arden.
