Jason Hill won the 2001 tournament at the 6,933-yard, par-70 Glenmaura National Golf Club. The then 30-year-old tour rookie came from four strokes back to earn his first career title.
Hill tied a course record with a 5-under 65 Sunday to finish the event at 8-under-par 272, three shots removed from Jonathan Byrd and Matt Peterson. Tim Petrovic finished fourth, four back.
Hill will not be back to defend his title, as he ended the season 14th on the money list to earn his 2002 PGA Tour card. For that matter, Byrd and Peterson are also on the big tour via their financial collectings on the Buy.Com Tour in 2001, as is Petrovic.
This is the third playing of the event. Jeff Hart won the inaugural tournament over 2002 Tucson Open champion Ian Leggatt.
This is the ninth tour event of the season. Cliff Kresge, thanks to his Richmond Open victory, leads Steven Alker by just over $3,000 on the money list. Kresge has earned $123,240 thus far this season.
