Calc Recovering from Knee Surgery

PGA Tour (75x100)Mark Calcavecchia is recovering from arthroscopic knee surgery, performed Tuesday to repair some loose cartilage in his right knee.
The surgery, performed by Arizona Cardinals team orthopedist Dr. Russell Chick, was a simple procedure and deemed a success by Dr. Chick. A quick recovery is expected.
Calcavecchia first noticed a problem while playing in the Wednesday pro-am at the Phoenix Open on Jan. 22nd. He felt the knee pop, but decided to play in the tournament anyway. He finished in a tie for 49th, then had a tie for 51st the following week at the Bob Hope Chrysler Classic.
However, after not playing at the AT&T Pebble Beach, Calc came back to shoot 8-under in the Buick Invitational, good enough for eighth place. But he had had enough of the discomfort.
He will have the knee re-examined on Monday and is hoping to be back in time for the March 13th start of the Honda Classic, a tournament he has started 15 consecutive years. He is a two-time champion at the event.
