The Champions Tour kicked off the 2004 season with Fuzzy Zoeller pulling off a come-from-behind victory at the limited-field MasterCard Championship in Hawaii.
This weekend, legends Jack Nicklaus, Tom Watson, Arnold Palmer and Lee Trevino will compete in the Wendys Champions Skins Game on Maui.
The Royal Caribbean, in its 17th year of existence, is the first full-field event of the season. Dave Barr earned his maiden title on the 50-and-over circuit a year ago by shooting a final-round 5-under-par 67 to edge Gil Morgan and Bobby Wadkins by a stroke.
John Jacobs won a weather-shortened 36-hole tournament in 2002. The event was played under the Modified Stableford scoring system in 2000 and 2001.
Bruce Fleisher won the 2000 edition, making him the first and only back-to-back winner of the tournament. Trevino is the only other multiple champion; winning in 1990 and 94.
This years winner will collect $217,500 of the $1.45 million purse.
The Golf Channel will carry exclusive, three-round coverage of the Royal Caribbean Classic. Coverage will begin at 1:30 p.m. Friday-Sunday.
