Coceres Breaks Arm Out Six Weeks


Jose Coceres, a two-time winner on the PGA Tour in 2001, broke his arm playing soccer with friends and will be out for at least six weeks.
The injury occurred Dec. 21 in Cardales, Argentina, where the Argentine and a group of friends often meet to play soccer.
The 38-year-old winner of the WorldCom Classic and the National Car Rental Classic suffered a hairline fracture in his lower left arm and will be in a cast for three weeks. He hopes to return in time for the Nissan Open Feb. 14.
Coceres and Phil Mickelson are the only two eligible players to miss the season-opening Mercedes Championships in Kapalua, Hawaii.
Mickelson told officials that he wanted to be home with his family, which includes his two-month-old daughter. A two-time winner last year, Mickelson hasnt played since the NEC Invitational in August.
